Florence Falls

We left Edith Falls early bound for Tjuwaliyn, or Douglas for those that can't pronounce that, Hot Springs. We arrived there relatively unscathed despite the small water crossing we had to pass to get there. The campground was a little lacking in shade so we just decided to have a quick dip and move on. These springs reached 62C apparently, not that we had a thermometer, however I couldn't get in the water at some points so I guess it was up there somewhere. There were a couple of older gents in the hotter area and not to be out done Troy had a crack. It took him a while but eventually he was able to sit down.

Ronan tried too and while it took him a little longer he eventually was able to sit in the hot water also. Stella and I chose to stay in the more civilised cooler water, which was so nice. A little ways away from where the water came out of the ground the temperature was just beautiful and as there was a cold river running alongside the hot spring, you could lie in there and have cool water followed by warm water wash over you.

We paddled for ages, then hit the road once more. We headed to Adelaide River, which is where we thought the jumping crocodiles were located, but it turns out they are in the Adelaide river but not in the town of Adelaide River!! We stopped here for a nice pub lunch anyway and then kept on moving. We eventually reached the Litchfield National Park and found a great campsite at Florence Falls, so we set up camp there. Once established we hiked down to the falls and had another swim. The falls were lovely, as was the water!

We hiked back for dinner, then joined the communal campfire for a yarn with the neighbours.
