The Natural Disaster At Exmouth

Our trip was planned around our stay at Ningaloo Reef, one of the sunniest places in Australia with an annual average of 320 days of sunshine and two days before we are due to arrive they cop 230mm of rain in a day!!! What are the odds! Our stay in the national park was delayed and the roads into town were closed keeping us in Coral Bay for an extra day, while Exmouth coped with what they told us was a natural disaster!! Finally the roads to Exmouth opened and today we made our way into town. The sky is a bit grey and it's very windy, but it's still quite warm here. Despite that the national park was still closed to overnight stays so we stayed in the Lighthouse caravan park just outside the national park with the aim of getting in tomorrow.

After we set up camp we went to the lighthouse and watched in shock horror as a guy attempted to hang glide off the top. The wind kept blowing him back onto the ground, a bit of a hint if you ask me!!

We then headed into town to restock the van in preparation for our 5 nights at Kurrajong in the national park. Troy and I found a great cafe for a coffee while the kids had fun in the water park.

We had dinner and then listened as the rain came down!! Not sure if we will get in to the park tomorrow either!!
